We aim to bring people together for a community wide reading experience which will get our community talking, foster community spirit, promote tolerance and understanding and develop appreciation for reading as the gateway that makes all other learning possible.

Launch "One Cavan, One Writer: Siobhan Dowd Project 2011 – 2012"

On:      Culture Night 23rd September 2011.
At:       Johnston Central Library, Cavan Town
Time:  Event runs from 6.00pm to 11.00pm
Launch Event Programme
6.00pm – 7.30pm
  • Exhibition of Logo Competition entries
  • Introduction to “One Cavan, One Writer” project
  • Presentation of Logo Competition awards
  • Siobhan Dowd: The Writer, her work and her life: Talk by Siobhan Dowd Trust Speakers
Break for Refreshments with “Song Sisters” providing the entertainment

8.15pm – 9.30pm       
  • Launch of One Cavan, One Writer Creative Writing Competition
  • Drama Performance by young, professional Cavan actors: Extracts from Siobhan Dowd’s “Bog Child”
  • Launch of Resource Packs for Educational Agencies incl. Schools
  • Launch of Social Media for One Cavan, One Writer

Break for Refreshments

10.00pm – 11.00pm   
Cavan Library Reading Group welcomes Siobhan Dowd Trust speakers to a meeting on
Siobhan Dowd’s novel “Bog Child.” Anyone attending the Culture Night Event welcome to
take part.
